Past Guild Events
St. Joseph Mercy Senior Communities
On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, WWCQG held a Mini Quilt Show for the St. Joe Village Residents. The Guild members that were able to attend were Suzanne Zellers, Bob and Barb Green, Roxann Baker, and Kathy Ward for the end of the day. Diane Briggman sent quilts with us. We had just the right amount of quilts for the Residents to look at. Bob brought antique Singer sewing machines, irons and other items to show the Residents and they shared their memories. It was a fun day for us. Bob would like to set up a sewing day with those that would like to make something for themselves.
Belle Noelle Tree Festival
This annual event ran from November 26 – December 21, 2019. It opened with bonfires and hot cocoa. Tim Hortons provided the cocoa. Ms. Dallos, the Director, asked for decorated trees to fill the Museum for the holiday season. WWCQG has contributed for many years. We put up a tabletop tree decorated as the committee sees fit. Suzanne Zellers and Shelly Florence decorated the tree, this year, with many sewing/quilting items.
BAM Belleville Area Museum and Archives
National Quilting Day has been designated as the third Saturday in March. In recognition of National Quilting month, The Belleville Area Museum and WWCQG co- sponsor a month long Quilt Exhibit. In March 2018, it was the 22nd annual Exhibit. We have helped procure quilts, enlist guest speakers, hold Bed Turnings, Demos and sew with students or Scouts. We staff the Museum with our members. We put together a gift basket and hang a Viewer’s choice ribbon at the end of the month. The small admission charged, goes to the Museum. In 2019 and 2020 there is construction going on. A new Library is being built and the old will be demolished to make a new parking lot. WWCQG felt that the visitors that come to the Exhibit would need adequate parking and the Seniors and Handicapped would need a short distance to get to the Museum. We cancelled until the construction is completed. We are looking forward to 2021. Bob Green and Roxann Baker, Co Chairs
